Forever and a Day

I Will Follow Your Lead

Copyright 2006 by Christopher M Solaas.

Many of us, Christian or not, suffer chronic pain. This song is written for one person I know who suffers from chronic intense pain.

In times of suffering we are bound to cry out to God and ask Him 'Why!?' or to ask Him to heal us. But God's strength is often perfected in our weakness, and if we allow the 'fire' to melt away the dross in our lives, out will come a vessel for God's glory that He can show to the world.

Lyrics

Verse 1:
Well, You set me on this path
So many years ago
It was a sunny Sunday morning
When we started down that road
Though I entered through a narrow gate
The path was clearly marked
And you promised You'd be with me
Even in the dark.

Chorus:
But here, in the dark, in this valley of woe,
I will hold to your hand, and I'll never let go.
It's so hard to see You, through the darkness and the mist
But together we can make it through this.
Back there, in the rain, when I fell to my knees
You were there, picked me up, and You carried me.
You have always helped me up, in the moment of my need
So lead on, I will follow Your lead.

Verse2:
Well You told me countless times
That this path will lead me home.
And You've never left my side
Although I sometimes feel alone.
Now the trail leads through a valley
Where I do not want to go
And the pain is like a fire
Consuming All that I know!

Chorus:

Verse3:
I was begging You to heal me
Not so very long ago
As I've asked a million times
And You've always said "NO."
But You've held me when I'm weary
So the road does not seem long
For I know that in my weakness
You will make me strong!

Chorus:

You have always helped me up, in the moment of my need
So lead on, I will follow Your lead.
I will follow Your lead.
I will follow Your lead.
